No — it helps you work with your doctors. Captain reads across the analyzed material in your file, connects supported details, drafts questions worth asking, and tracks what's already been worked up and set aside. Clinical decisions stay with you and your providers.

Three ways. Theories show the record evidence used to support them. For case-prep documents, a separate verifier pass flags claims it can't back up. And anywhere Captain references the outside world — patient communities, clinical trials — it can only draw from vetted, curated lists, never invented names.

Yes. Take the Helm is built on a HIPAA-grade architecture. Your records and everything Captain reads stay inside AWS — they're never sold, never shared with advertisers, and never used to train AI models. There are no third-party trackers on your data.

Anytime. Export a full archive of everything Take the Helm holds about you as a single download, and delete your account (with a recovery grace period) whenever you choose. You own your data.

Yes. You can add a child or other dependent under your own account and keep their records, medications, and case alongside yours — with a switcher to move between them. You stay in control of what belongs to whom.

During early access, prepare a one-page case snapshot, visit packet, referral letter, or second-opinion request, then print or download it to share yourself. In-app doctor share links are not currently enabled.

Most software costs roughly the same whether you open it once a month or fifty times a day. AI does not. Every time you ask Captain a question, it builds a working context from your records, labs, visits, medications, and notes so the answer can account for your whole health story.

AI providers charge for both the information their models read and the words they write. Those units of words and data are called tokens. Your question may be short, but the medical history Captain must consider alongside it can be substantial. The expensive part is often the reading behind the answer.

Record analysis and appointment recordings create costs, too. Captain reads and explains each page, extracts lab values and important findings, and turns recorded visits into organized, searchable information. Each step is fresh work performed for that member.

That is why memberships include clear allowances for Captain questions, record pages, and recorded minutes. The limits keep Take the Helm sustainable and prevent surprise overage charges; they never lock you out of the records and prior work already in your file.

Take the Helm is self-funded, with no outside investors. Memberships also support the secure infrastructure, engineering, monitoring, and ongoing development required to keep the service reliable. Our goal is to build the best AI-driven health advocate we can while making it as cost-effective as the technology allows—and to pass meaningful savings along as that technology becomes more efficient.
