Your data

The most private place to work on the case you can't share lightly.

A lifetime of medical records is some of the most sensitive data you have. Helm is built so Captain can help you work with that information while keeping its protections and controls visible. Here's how it is protected.

Captain is built into Helm

Captain works with the records and health information you bring together in Helm. Your records, labs and notes are protected with encryption at rest and in transit, and the database is isolated on a private network.

Never sold, never used to train AI

Your health data is never sold, never shared with advertisers, and never used to train AI models. There are no third-party advertising or analytics trackers riding along on your PHI.

HIPAA-grade by design

Helm is architected to HIPAA-grade standards: encryption at rest and in transit (TLS), least-privilege access, and audit logging. Authentication runs through AWS Cognito; the database sits in a private subnet.

You own it — export anytime

Download your records, symptoms, narratives, letters and conversations as a single export, whenever you want. The export itself lists what it includes. No lock-in.

Delete on your terms

Request deletion of your account and its data, with a recovery grace period so an accidental request can be reversed. Settings shows the current recovery and deletion status.

Access controls that match the sensitivity

Multi-factor authentication, automatic idle timeout, a per-device sign-in history, and one-tap 'sign out of all devices' — so you can see who has signed in to your account, and shut it down.

Sharing only when you say so

Download or print a doctor-ready document when you choose. You decide what leaves your account and who receives it; Helm does not send your health file to a clinician automatically.

See your own activity

Your account activity timeline shows sign-ins and case opens — including failed access-code attempts — so you can see what's happening to your data.

The fine print, in full

This page is the plain-language version. The complete, binding details — what we collect, how it's handled, your rights, and how to reach us — live in the legal documents.

Provider disclosure: Captain currently uses AI technology provided by Anthropic through Amazon Bedrock in Helm's AWS account. AWS states that model providers cannot access Bedrock prompts, completions, or service logs.
